Reassemble:
Reassemble, originated during my residency period at Buitenplaats Doornburgh in Maarssen, The Netherlands in the spring of 2022. I went in search of knowledge that is connected with the female identity that is hidden in ancient times. By bringing actions, gestures and objects in relation to elements in nature, I try to reconnect with them. Red ocher and clay have been associated with femininity, fertility and recovery since ancient times. For the video work Reassemble, I invited artist Johanna Franco Zapata to participate in a ritual in which red ocher plays an important role. The work is about reconnecting the body with the other and reconnecting the body with the earth.
